How Long Do Exosomes Last?
Exosomes themselves are cleared from the body within days, but that is not what determines how long the therapy lasts. The vesicles act as a signal that initiates repair processes, and the biological response they trigger continues developing for weeks to months after the exosomes are gone.
Two Different Questions
People asking how long exosomes last are usually asking two different things at once, and separating them explains most of the confusion.
How long the vesicles persist. Short — they are taken up by cells and cleared within days. Exosomes are messengers, not implants.
How long the effect persists. Considerably longer, because the message changes what the recipient cells do. Repair and remodelling processes initiated by that signalling continue well after the vesicles themselves are gone, which is why response is assessed over weeks and months rather than immediately.
What Determines Duration of Response
The condition treated and its severity, the tissue involved and its natural blood supply, patient age and metabolic health, and whether the underlying cause has been addressed. A joint that continues to be loaded in the way that damaged it will not hold a response as long as one where the mechanics have been corrected.
What Cannot Be Promised
No specific duration can be guaranteed for an individual patient. Any clinic quoting a fixed number of months for everyone is describing marketing rather than biology.
